Updated: Tamron SP 150-600mm VC SP USD vs Canon EF 400mm f5.6L USM

Update: Please go to this post instead. http://camahoy.com/2014/01/13/finally-tamron-150-600-vs-canon-400-f5-6l/

Finally had the time to put these bad boys head to head. And the results are really stunning. The Tamron delivers sharper equal images at 400mm than the Canon L lens. The bokeh is beautiful.

*Update: Some smart person commented about me having a filter on the Canon 400. How stupid of me. I actually forgot. Was using a Kenko PRO UV. Honest misstake people. Did a quick test at home here. Will try the same scenario tomorrow as i did today without the UV 😉

  1. It is even better than this. The shrubs seen through the gaps in the fence on the right are in sharper focus than the fence, so some AF fine tuning would make it even sharper.

    Thank you for sharing these.

  2. Mam 400 5,6 i powiem, że z twoim testem jest coś nie tak.
    – albo masz uszkodzony obiektyw
    – albo zdjęcie wyszło poruszone.

  3. Are you going to do some more comparison shots sometime soon? :). I’d like to see some more against the 400 L, and also just more shots in general if you got time.
